Edwin K. Reynolds is a unique storyteller, US Army veteran, and entrepreneur whose creative work bridges technology and liberation through the lens of Afrofuturism. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, E.K. brings an authentic understanding of the city’s transformation—not as symbol of decay, but as laboratory for becoming. His experience growing up in Detroit’s post-industrial landscape deeply informs ASCENDANCY’s vision of urban spaces as sites of spiritual and technological evolution.

After serving four years of honorable service in the US Army (stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Carson, Colorado), E.K. built a professional career in healthcare technology and human capital management, specializing in coding, software solutions consultation, and technical product training. His expertise in these fields within enterprise-level organizations gives him unique insight into how systems—both human  and algorithmic—distribute power and resources. This technical fluency helped shape ASCENDANCY’s exploration of algorithmic justice and systemic transformation.

Beyond his corporate and military career, E.K. is a former recording artist (aka Dyscyple, 1995-2007) who used spiritual-based Hip Hop to inspire youth and counter the narratives perpetuated by inner-city hardships and media propaganda. As a Hip Hop artist, he sought to dispel lies and illuminate truth—a mission that continues in his creative work. His music career taught him how to craft messages that  resonate emotionally while challenging audiences intellectually, skills central to ASCENDANCY’s narrative approach.

As a creative writer and voice actor specializing in narrator roles, he understands the power of voice—both literal and metaphorical—in shaping how stories are told and heard. ASCENDANCY represents the convergence of E.K.’s lived experiences: Detroit’s transformation, military discipline, systems thinking, technology’s ethical complexities, and Hip Hop’s prophetic tradition. Through ASCENDANCY, he offers a narrative that refuses to simplify questions about power, consciousness, and liberation—honoring his audience’s intelligence while delivering the visual spectacle and emotional resonance that define premium television.
